AT 6AM ON THE 31ST OF OCTOBER, 2014, A SWARM OF FBI AGENTS IN FLAK JACKETS AND WEAPONS ALMOST KNOCKED THE DOOR DOWN AT MY WESTCHESTER COUNTY HOME. WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION THE FBI TEAM SEARCHED THE HOUSE AND GRABBED MY COMPUTER, CELL PHONE AND PAPER FILES. I WAS THEN HANDCUFFED BEHIND MY BACK AND PUT IN THE REAR SEAT OF A CAR DRIVEN BY THE TEAM LEADER OF THE FBI.
STILL NO EXPLANATION.
As the car passed 125th St on the West Side Highway on its way to FBI NYC Headquarters in Lower Manhattan, the Special Agent addressed me. “Your daughter lives near here.”
“She is miles from here.” I replied.
“I noticed she is quite a marathoner. What is her best time?” The Agent seemed intent on letting me know that he had personal information about me and my daughter.
“Have you ever run one?”
“Yes, 3:48” said the Agent.
“Then my daughter and I have each beaten you by more than an hour”
THE IMPLICATION FROM THIS:
The FBI spent more time finding out where I lived and where my daughter lived (even though SHE had nothing to do with the case) and that we were marathon runners than they spent researching my case.
THE TWO ASSISTANT US ATTORNEYS (AUSA) WHO BROUGHT THE CASE AGAINST ME LEFT THE SDNY ONE HOUR AFTER THE MAGISTRATES HEARING ON THE DAY I WAS ARRESTED. The lead lawyer was headed to private practice and a high-end NYC firm to do more lucrative defense work. The other AUSA was off to four months of maternity leave. It is logical to think their minds were elsewhere.
But this is the key. To get a top job in white collar legal defense you need to bring in big fish. They thought I was a big fish. Instead, I will spend my efforts sharing the truth they should have known.
